Today was Pat Philips last day on the BCAM board a

Today was Pat Philips last day on the BCAM board after 6 years as a director.

Pat helped to found the museum in 1988, and then was off the board until coming back on 6 years ago.

He warmly shared that the museum has truly become a positive and engaging destination welcoming everyone.

Pat is always first to share the names of the many amazing people since day one and over the years who have contributed their expertise.

He'll still continue as the director of the CF-104 project (come see him working on the aircraft!) plus generously drive our lawn mower after hours in the summer months, not missing a patch.

Thank you for everything you've done to help make the BCAM what it is today!

The BC Aviation Museum is looking for an intern to

The BC Aviation Museum is looking for an intern to primarily work in the Collection Department, while also assisting with various tasks and projects that are essential to the operation of the museum. The position will entail working with a variety of departments, which will allow for the intern to earn knowledge and hands-on skills in all aspects of the museum’s operations.

BCAM volunteers visited the Coulson Tanker Base with @nickel_bros to start to work on a plan for moving the Hawaii Mars once it lands in Patricia Bay.

We are very fortunate to have many experienced members of the Coulson Group staff on hand, with first hand experience of the needs of Hawaii Mars and are beyond grateful they are taking the time to share their wealth of knowledge with us!

Coulson Group has already assigned a crew to start work on both Hawaii Mars, and everything extra it takes to get her in the water and ready for flight!

From Africa to the Arctic: Aircraft in Wildlife Research

Derek has over 40 years' experience as an ecologist, including 15 years working for governments in Africa, seven years in Arctic Canada, and subsequently over 20 years working as a consultant in Africa, South America and Indonesia. In this well illustrated talk, Derek will discuss how various aircraft were used in some of the projects he has undertaken in Africa. Countries included are Uganda, Botswana, South Africa, Chad, Tanzania and Madagascar. Given Derek's in- depth experience of many tropical areas, this talk is guaranteed to be informative and at times amusing, covering aircraft, people and wildlife.
